In 2018, Boeing teamed up once again with the Bristol University to organise a 24hr hour hackathon, this time themed around “Space”. Teams of up to 6 students, ranging from undergraduates to PhDs came up with innovative ideas including a hardware solution for visually tracking the ISS, museum-quality exhibitions describing the Martian atmosphere and cycle-safety monitoring systems using satellite communications.
My Contribution
- Organised the Boeing of the event, including branding, merchandise, support/attendance and the logistics of the event.
- Worked with members of my network at the Satellite Applications Catapult to secure extra funding, prizes and support on the day.
- Gave a talk on how to get started using computer vision and data analytics at the start of the event.
- Provided support to students, assisted with development of their entries and offered advice on careers.
